The Levitical Leadership Ministry
The Levitical Leadership Team derives at its meaning from the historic Judeo-Christian faith that suggests that a certain select group of people held the responsibility of managing the affairs of the Church’s day to day activities, as well as decision making in the best interest of the Church. All major decisions for the Church will emanated through this ministry. Such decisions would include employment, purchases, event planning, leadership, discipline, budgeting, etc. Although Kingdom will have auxiliary ministries in place, the executive decision making power for the Church will inlay with this ministry, under the direction of the Senior Pastor. The ministry is comprised of persons holding specific offices within the Church, which as designated by the Senior Pastor.
Scripture Readers:
The honor of reading God’s Word alone is a blessing, but to be able to share the reading with your fellow Kingdomites is meant to be a joy for all. Scriptures can be found on Kingdom’s website and/or it will be provided by the assigned worship leader. Readers are asked to pre-read the scriptures to develop a comfort level with all of the words. Care has been taken to ensure that the selected texts are without difficult to pronounce words. Readers are asked to come to the front of the Church anticipating that the worship leader is about to call for the scriptures to be read. Until Kingdom acquires a side podium, readers should read from the main lectern in the pulpit. The Reader should ask the congregation to stand (if not already standing) in honor of God’s Word. Readers should always begin the reading by introducing themselves; share the name of the book, chapter and verse that one is reading from. Readers are encouraged to read from the New International Version of the Bible, but this is not mandatory – simply preferred. At the conclusion of the reading, the reader should conclude by restating what was read, example: “this ends the Old Testament Reading of Numbers chapter 12 verses 12-20. May the Lord continue to bless you and your family with the application of His divine Word…” or something to that effect.
Readers are encouraged to practice their readings as a part of their family’s devotional time.
Welcoming of Blessed Guests/Visitors:
The extension of a formal welcome is the Church’s way of expressing love and appreciation to all first time visitors to the Church. It is the desire of the Pastor to have a family to come to fulfill this courtesy on behalf of himself, First Lady, leadership and members.
The welcome should always be given with “love tones” on ones voice – sincere appreciation for visiting as though one is personally grateful for the visit. The visitor is coming for a reason. A fellow Kingdomite has taken the time to give the invitation – they are in the need of salvation or deliverance – they have stumbled across our Church accidentally, etc. We want our visitors to know, especially in this moment, that we are glad they are in the building. We don’t want to over do it, but we simply want visitors to know that we want them here.
One of our youth/acolytes will pass around the microphone for the “Blessed Guests” to share the following information that you will encourage them to share:
1. Their name
2. Church affiliation
3. Who invited them/or how did they hear about Kingdom
The youth who passes around the microphone will also pass out a gift from Pastor and First Lady as well. While asking the “Blessed Guests” to share the aforementioned information, Pastor Brown always likes to ask the visiting youth to add what school that they are attending. It is the hope that other youth in the Church will recognize the visiting youth and they can make a connection.
Greeters:
The first face that our Blessed Guests and Members sees and encounters is our depended upon Greeters. The greeters should have a countenance that suggests “welcome and I am glad you are here and I have been here simply waiting upon your arrival.” The greeter should be attractively dressed and singularly focused on greeting and making the Blessed Guests and Members first entrance into the Church to be as comfortable as possible.
Please recognize that people are sometimes are: rushing to get to Church – having disagreements in the car prior to entering – have mixed feelings about coming to Church – their minds may be somewhere else – members feel anxiety about running late, etc. Your job as a greeter is to help them to take some of the initial “hectic” away and the Greeters countenance should suggest in some way: “it’s alright…” Sometimes a huge will help – a heart felt hand shake – a welcoming look in the eye, etc.
The Greeters first words should be, “Welcome to Kingdom – I am glad to see you this morning (or afternoon, evening – whatever the case may be).” “The Ushers will show you to your seat.” Greeters should assess what is going on and not be too quick to send people into the Church. Offer assistance to that mother who may be trying to take her children(s) coat(s) off – that person with their wet umbrella or that person who may be assisting an elderly person. Give the personal touch whenever possible.
Ushers:
Likewise (as with the Greeter, who often serves in both capacities at times), the Usher should be just as gracious. The Usher should also be disciplined to stand when necessary, to encourage members where to sit and to suggest none moment during the worship experience. All Blessed Guests and Members should be escorted to their seats. The Members especially require the same amount of attention and enthusiasm as they first received while they were visiting. We should not assume that just because they have been attending for some time, as an Usher, we can slack off of providing quality. For some, that is all it takes for a Member to feel “unappreciated,” and to become distracted. Ushers on duty at Kingdom usually dress in black and white colors and sometimes wear white gloves. Ushers have standing stations and have a hand signals to communicate needs.
Video Recording:
For those who desire to have a copy of the worship experience that they have been a part of, a copy of the service that their child has ministered in and for those who have not been able to attend for whatever reason (sick, out of town and have relocated), the video recordings aid with Kingdom being able to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Recordings are usually done in the rear of the Church.
PA System:
As with the video recordings, the working of the PA system is vital to the flow of worship. Appropriate sound levels go a long way to make the worship experience at Kingdom that much more appealing. Our music ministry relies upon music tracks to assist with their vocals. Our “Welcoming of our Blessed Guests” portion of the worship service is dependant upon the PA System technician to play music during this time. Before and after worship – appropriate music is necessary to aid with creating the atmosphere for worship.
Van Driver:
Kingdom is desirous to have several drivers listed to pick up Blessed Guests and Members who desire to attend worship and Bible Study. A name, address and directions will be provided to the van driver for each family to be picked up. Each driver will be assigned to a schedule.
Special Events:
We are always excited to invite in fellow Believers to Kingdom for special events. Though these events always promises a good time in the Lord, there is much planning that takes place to ensure a quality event. A special event includes such things as: breakfasts, anniversaries, holiday events, recognitions, etc. Usually, there is a minimum of 2-3 people involved with the planning of each event, but a good event always involves the entire Church and its ministries. If a leader is not the direct point of contact, one of them will always be assigned to assist members with carrying out the assignment.
Regardless of the size or perceived importance of the event, there are standard elements that are needful for each such as:
Date verification on the Church calendar, alignment for the Church Vision, funding, facility available, marketing, invitations to special guests, project meetings with fellow volunteers, recognitions of thanks, etc.
Decorating Church:
Kingdom should always be adorned to honor God and His presence. As a Church, its décor should always be symbolic of our honor toward our Savior. To that end, the House of God should be adorned for worship and within the season. Those who decorate, if unsure of placement or appropriateness, should always check in with the Deacons or Pastor prior to adding any installation, especially anything that would be considered permanent.
Intercessory Prayer:
The Word of God states that the Church must be a “House of Prayer.” If we are nothing else as a Church, we ought to be known as a prayerful people. To that end, we are in need of a group of people – no less than 2-3 people who will commit to praying for the people of the Church, its mission, its ministries and its leadership and Pastor. Intercessory prayer times can be scheduled at the participant’s convenience. It is the Pastor’s desire to especially have intercessory prayer time at the beginning of Bible Study and a few minutes prior to the beginning of worship on Sundays and additional worship experiences.
Finance Ministry:
It is imperative that God’s money is handled with care and prudence. People who have been gifted in the area of “attention to detail and administration” are needed to wisely carry out the financial needs of the ministry. The beginning needs of our Finance Ministry begin with counting the offering each Sunday. Offerings may also include special offering and Christian Education offerings from Sunday School and Bible Study. Upon counting, donations should be recorded within the Church’s computer system and deposited into our local bank. Persons carrying out this ministry should commit to being confidential regarding fellow member’s contributions. Such information should never be shared outside of the finance room. A group of volunteers have been scheduled for this ministry so that the task of counting does not rest on 1-2 people.
Nursery:
For parents of new borns, the unavailability of a nursery ministry may cause them to not attend Church on a regular basis due to the energy and attention needed to tend to their child. Some parents may feel uncomfortable with their baby crying during worship due to their concern for other members being distracted. Some feel that they are not able to receive from attending Church because much of their time is spent caring for their child. The Nursery Ministry would aid greatly with meeting the needs of these new parents. It does further help with the audio ministry so that the recordings have captured the sermon and music without compromise. Persons with patience, persons who are faithful and are good with babies and toddlers are needed for this ministry. Members should understand that due to limited classroom space, this ministry will be provided on a first come first serve basis.
Parents should know that the existence of this ministry is solely dependent upon their participation as well. Parents should understand that for this ministry to work, their need to volunteer is humbly anticipated – perhaps one Sunday per month.
Children Church, Ages: 4-7:
Liken to the Nursery Ministry needs, Children’s Church has the need for the same patience and loving demeanor for our children. Just like with the Nursery Ministry, parents are needed to make this work.
